NIV English Bible Study

Prayer

12 December 2010

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love, your mercy, your grace.  We thank you for working in each of our lives and for being with us today in this NIV English Bible Study class.  For we know that where two or more are gathered in your name, you are there.

Dear Lord, you work in each of our lives often in ways that we do not expect.  Over 2-1/2 years ago you brought Pok Sin and me to Saemoonan Presbyterian Church and this class.  You have blessed us greatly through the friendships, the fellowship, and the study of your word.  Each and every member of this class is a special child of God.  I know you are working in their lives just as you are in ours.

Dear Lord, we pray for this Bible Study as they enter a new year.  We pray for your leadership, direction, and blessing.  We pray that it may continue to grow, and that it may be a means to reveal your truths through the diligent and purposeful study of your word.

As we approach Christmas, let us remember the true meaning of this season.  This is when love came down from heaven to dwell among us.  This is when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Help us remember, O Lord, why we celebrate this birth, ¡°For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.¡±

Everlasting life means an everlasting relationship with you, Lord; a relationship that starts today.

Today, Lord, we celebrate that relationship with a Conversation Festival.  We thank you, Lord, for each and every participant; for the hours they spent practicing and preparing so they may praise your name through these simple skits.  Each of these conversations reinforces a truth that You taught us through one of the lessons.  May we listen closely to the words and take them to our hearts, not just to our minds.  For it is with our heart that we believe and are justified.

These things we pray in Christ¡¯s holy name.  Amen.
